Following up from yesterday’s post, let’s talk about how people are actually getting from the hotel to the various venues. A lot of people are flying into NYC for the wedding (for which we thank them profusely!), and are therefore without a car. As you probably already know, Poughkeepsie is a drivin’ town. People will therefore need rides from the hotels to the rehearsal (for those that are going) on Friday night, and from the hotel to the church and then on to the winery and then back to the hotel for the wedding on Saturday. If you will be in Poughkeepsie with a car and have extra space, please post a comment indicating how many people you can accommodate and at what hotel you are staying. This way we will cut down on any extra expenses that anyone might have to incur- people can share the price of gas and avoid renting cars.

Thanks for all of your help!

For the NYC people- I know I (Dylan) was planning on taking the train. Since I'm in the wedding, I have a ride to the ceremony, but I'm assuming not the rehearsal. But I also have a guest coming with me who does not have said ride. I know Carl and Jayce are in the same boat.
So- what about distances? What of the events is cab-able, and what isn't? If we can work that, that could help.
Anthony, Josh, and Andy will also not have a ride.
I'm wondering if a mini-van isn't in our future?
Well, my mother happens to HAVE a Red- Chrysler Town and Country in Wappingers Falls that I am SURE I will be allowed to use for the weekend leaving her my Charcoal Grey with black leather interior 2004 Acura TSX. This minivan can be full of surprises and may come equipped with Celine Dion CD's, personal video game systems, blankets & chairs (typical of only the BEST soccer moms) and maybe even some assorted candy and gum.
I am NOT staying at the hotel, but I can definitely pick people up for the rehearsal dinner. Seats 7 but I am confident 8 or 9 if necessary:)

What's the story with the bridal party transportation from the wedding to winery? Is there any? I would prefer NOT to drive as we are going to a WINEry but... tis no big thang if that is the case... MAybe we could get my MOM to drive us!?! That would be old school style:)
I am hoping that there is a unicycle involved in some point.
Are we allowed to joke on a wedding blog? If not, please note that I am not joking.
David and I (Kenesha) are taking the train in also. We don't have transportation and I'm not sure either of us remembers how to drive. Anyway, please let us know if taxis exist in Poughkeepsie and whether or not they are reliable in case we can't hitch rides.
OMG people still like, drive and stuff? Did anyone tell them gas is like a bajillion dollars a gallon?! P-town needs to go pedestrian only, stat.
Anyway, I think we should all rent Vespas and zip from venue to venue in a large mob, like a European Hell's Angels. In formal wear.
But barring that, I'm in the same boat (or lack thereof, as a boat would actually be more transportation than I have) so I was kinda relying on the taxi arrangement as well.
Or, if we can get a head-count, maybe we can stea...I mean...charter something? Like a van (that doesn't come with its own apple juice stains)?
Ooh, I'm intrigued by the deleted posts.
But let's break it down... what I have is, at least as far as those of us coming for the city is this, and by all means correct me if I'm wrong here...
Friday-
Train to Hotel - there's a shuttle so this is covered.
Hotel to Rehearsal Dinner (and back) - ??
Saturday-
Hotel to (photos) to Wedding - Covered for wedding party, not for the rest
Wedding to Reception - Ditto
Reception to Hotel - ??
Sunday-
Hotel to brunch - ??
To train - Shuttle from hotel?
If I'm missing anything let me know. Otherwise- how many people do we know will need a ride (I'm covered for some of these, but my girlfriend is not, and Carl is in the same boat with Jayce), and what's the taxi situation like up there?
D
I (Colin) am in need rides too for Saturday. I bet if we figured out how many people total, we could order taxis:

Okay team- For those still paying attention to all of this, my dad has rented a van that holds about 16-18 people for the weekend that my older brother will drive. There will also be capacity with some people who are renting cars so I think we should be able to get everyone places. Keep the taxi number just in case, and try to have a buddy system so we don't strand one person at any location! Phew!
Hey party peoples - Just got back from Johannesburg and excited for good times! James and I are planning on renting a car so there's totally space for more warm bodies if anyone needs a ride. We're staying at the Grand Hotel Saturday night and are thinking of coming out Friday to make a big-ass weekend out of it all. I lost my phone, but James' number is 646 567 0831 if anyone needs to get in touch with us this weekend. Good stuff!
